A Selection of Videos - Documentary, Instructional, Promotional, Motion Graphics

I've made over 500 videos. Here are just a few. Unless otherwise noted, I was responsible for all filming, editing, motion graphics, and sound as a one-man crew and production house.

Bauma - 30 sec
This short social media video, a fast-turnaround, no-budget piece, was created to promote Ritchie Bros.'s presence at Europe's largest construction trade fair. It was quickly edited using existing event photos and clips from videos I had made for various company divisions.
Pride and Joy - 3 min
Ritchie Bros. Auction Roadshow - Season 2, Episode 2. The Ritchie Bros. Auction Roadshow looks at a man and his most prized possession. Directed, shot, edited and co-produced by me. Written by Andrew Engelhardt.
Ritchie Bros. Ident - 20 sec
This intro/ident/bumper was created for videos streamed every year during a live auction event in Orlando, Florida.
TransCanada - 3 min
In the fall of 2020 I traveled from Banff, AB to Muskoka, ON after living in British Columbia for 12 years. As I drove across Canada with all my belongings crammed into a compact SUV, I filmed a few places along the way. This was shot on RED Epic-W, Canon 24-70 f2.8L lens.
Wheel loader Safety - 3 min
This is one of a series of ten instructional videos I produced on safe practices and procedures for wheel loader operation at a Ritchie Bros. auction site. I hired a local camera crew in Edmonton to shoot the footage which I then edited in Vancouver. The Edmonton auction site staff wrote the scripts, and the voiceovers were performed by Andrew Engelhardt in Vancouver.
Move Build Grow - 30 sec
This video was part of a series of simple social media testimonials created for the Ritchie Bros. HR department. I used a big soft light and shot on a RED Epic-W with a Leica Summicron-R 50mm F2 lens. This vintage lens adds a subdued, filmic feel to footage.
Opportunity at Work - 2 min
This is the general recruiting video I made for the Human Resources department at Ritchie Bros. A good deal of the footage was culled from various shoots I had done in the past 3 years at various locations around the world. The video also incorporates new motion graphics. The script was written by Andrew Englehardt, copywriter for Ritchie Bros.
Offsite Sales - 2 min
I filmed this video in North Dakota to promote agricultural auctions that are conducted at a customer's place of business. It's an example of how two day's coverage of a live event is turned into an effective testimonial marketing piece. I shot it on a Canon C100 with Canon L lenses.
Website Banner - 30 sec
This video banner was to be featured on the new Ritchie Bros. investor website. I incorporated live-action footage previously shot for Ritchie Bros., and tech-oriented motion graphics to convey our expansion into the digital realm. This version is silent.
RBA Brandwall - 3 min
This was the "corporate video" for Ritchie Bros. Instead of a scripted narrative piece, the marketing director wanted a looped video that could play on the giant screen in the lobby of the world headquarters. It also played in the local offices worldwide and at tradeshows. It features all the various brands underneath the Ritchie Bros. umbrella.
Ritchie Bros. Auction Roadshow Season 1, Ep.1 - 3 min
This is the premiere episode of the Ritchie Bros. Auction Roadshow, a documentary series about the trials and tribulations of selling a farmer's life's work in one day. It was filmed, directed, and edited by me. It was written by Andrew Engelhardt.
Manager Training - 30 sec
One of a series of head-and-shoulders intros shot on a RED Epic-W with a Leica Summicron-R 50mm F2 lens. This piece stands as an example of no-budget ingenuity and skill. I had very little time and was limited to shooting in the company break room using one light.
Equipment Yard Time Lapse - 2 min
This is a 3-month timelapse video of the Edmonton auction site as the staff prepares for auction day. Thousands of still images were gathered and sent to me at head office where I used After Effects to sequence, edit, and animate the resulting footage.
Pipeline Event of the Year - 1 min
This quick-turnaround promotional video was for an auction featuring some highly specialized equipment. I used drone footage provided by the staff onsite to tease the upcoming pipeline equipment sale. Additional footage came from previous auctions I had shot.
Ritchie Bros. Auction Roadshow Season 3 Ep.3 - 4 min
This show was filmed, edited, and directed by me. It was written by Andrew Engelhardt. In this episode, family and friends help keep the Turners' anxiety down as all their equipment is quickly auctioned off. Betty's beloved combine, the big star of the show, comes up for sale. She can only hope it fetches a good price and goes to a good home.
Everybody's Doing a Video Logo - 30 sec
So why can't I? I made this video logo for my brand. It was a good excuse to learn Element 3D in After Effects. Footage from my videos appears on the 3D walls of my animated monogram logo.
